BIO

The Beginning

Maytee Martinez was born on March 7th in West New York, New Jersey. She has often been described as a stunning beauty with a unique and down-to-earth personality. Maytee is the oldest of three children and the only girl in the family, so she’s used to being the center of attention.

Her Family

Maytee’s family is extremely important to her. She has always admired her father for being such a great businessman and role model. (Not surprisingly, she has, and always will be, Daddy’s girl.) Danny and Jouse, her two younger brothers, looked up to Maytee as she worked hard to pursue and eventually achieve her dream to be a top model. They now have a similar attitude as they pursue basketball and baseball scholarships.

Growing Up

At nine years old, Maytee was already 5’11”, which was a bit awkward at such a young age. She was often teased about her height, and was often called names such as “The Jolly Green Giant” and “Long Neck.”

Because of Maytee’s positive attitude and her family’s support, she saw her height as an opportunity, not a liability. In fact, all of her brothers and cousins recognized she could grow up to be a famous supermodel. They begged to be her bodyguard and constantly wanted to have a picture taken with her.

Although Maytee was still teased at school, she learned to ignore what people said about her. Maytee also had little time to socialize since she was so busy with dance classes, school, tutoring, and sports. She never doubted herself and continued to pursue her dreams.

In Her Teens

By the time Maytee was thirteen years old, she began to focus on her career. At that time, her family moved to Miami, Florida, which turned out to be one of the most significant turning points in Maytee’s life.

Her parents, Marlene and Daniel, had been in the beauty business for many years. After moving to Miami from New Jersey, they expanded their business by opening a beauty supply store, La Bella Beauty Supply, in downtown Miami.

To help publicize their business, they used Maytee as the well-recognized face of La Bella. It wasn’t long before the business, and Maytee’s career, boomed. In fact, Maytee got so many job offers her parents decided to close the profitable business and focus exclusively on Maytee’s career.

Working at La Bella each day also taught Maytee what it takes to run a successful business and be an “entrepremillionaire,” as she likes to say, laughing.

A Model’s Life

With the support and encouragement of her family and the skills she learned from the beauty business, Maytee was ready to launch a full-time modeling career. Maytee began by enrolling in a modeling and etiquette class at “Alicia Faccio Modeling and Etiquette School”.

The owner, Alicia Faccio, is well known in the fashion industry. Alicia immediately recognized Maytee’s potential as both a model and teacher. After only two years, she asked Maytee to help teach the youngest girls in class, and a year later, promoted Maytee to be her assistant.

Maytee credits Alicia for much of the success she has achieved in her career, and cannot thank her enough for being such a great friend and supporter. In addition to Alicia, Maytee’s idols include her mother Marlene, Gisele Bunchen, and Tyra Banks.

Success

In 2010, Maytee graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fashion Merchandising from the “Miami International University for Art & Design”.

During that same year she was featured on Tyra Banks Site http://www.TYRA.com/ as “America’s Next Top Model” Finalist for Cycle 15.

Maytee also pursued acting in films such as “El Cartel de Los Sapos” a Colombian television series and the BET movie “CO2″.  Maytee’s modeling portfolio quickly began to expand gig after gig.

As a runway model, she has worked and walked the catwalks for designers such as Carolina Herrera, Roberto Cavalli, Betsey Johnson, La Perla, Elie Tahari, Pink by Victoria’s Secret, Franovik Designs, Samy Gicherman, Lilly Pulitzer, Claudio Milano, Papi Inc, La Perla, Lourdes Atencio, Ella Bella, Yoly Munoz, Lila Nikole, Lorie Lester, Jacinta Ligon and St. John among others. She has also modeled in the following Fashion Weeks: FTL Moda, Ft. Lauderdale Fashion Week, Arts of Fashion, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Hispanic Heritage Fashion Week, Miami Rock Fashion Week, Miami International Fashion Week and Fashion Designers Expo among others.

In 2011, Maytee signed with “Runways & The Talent Group Model Management”!
